If you visited our “Lavender Haze” blog post, you know we kicked off our senior season with the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. In concept, Swift-inspired photoshoots sound fun. But when you get down to the nitty-gritty of it all, you realize accomplishing something of this magnitude takes grit, like climbing the photography version of Mt. Everest. These photoshoots take A LOT of preplanning, and one of those pieces is finding the right location to give “Anti-Hero,” a personal tribute for many, justice.
In the music video, Taylor mopes around a vintage home decorated in the fashion of That ‘70s Show before her alter ego shows up, and they start partying. After exhausting other location options, for the first time in our almost twenty years of business, I put out a Facebook call in search of the perfect “Anti-Hero” location. We’re talking, pre-renovated, shag carpeting, wood paneling, and all the ‘70s retro motifs you’d find at Grandma’s house.
But before all hope was lost, the Lord chose to answer a prayer, and days later, a random lady on Facebook messaged us about an Airbnb in Revloc, PA. This place is wall-to-wall ‘70s memorabilia—down to the knick-knacks, lava lamps, and old rotary phones. Perfection!
Being a Swifie herself, Brooke had died and gone to heaven when she entered this house and morphed into “Anti-Hero” character. I couldn’t have asked for a better location and model! Plus, hats off to Codi, our stylist, for making cheap clip-on bangs work without looking fake! Taylor has bangs; Brooke does not. With a little Photoshop magic, Joel fused sets of photos to create the “Anti-Hero” double personality vibe we were hoping for. To put it plainly, I’m so in LOVE, love with these photos!
