“Blissfully Demented by Nature,” I read from a business card given to me by Angela Eliasz, the owner of Witches’ Hollow & Mad McIntosh Cider (also known as Titan Hollow). After touring the bar and restaurant, I knew instantly that Joel and I had to do a photoshoot within its industrial and spooky walls. And I knew just who to call—our friend Jacci, a woodland elf, creative costumer maker, LARP enthusiast, and self-made Victorian era expert. She had her name written all over this project, and we were dying to show her the place.
Titan Hollow had recently done a soft opening, but it didn’t take long for others to discover and appreciate the amazing food, drink, and unique decor! “It’s like walking onto a set from Harry Potter,” I thought to myself. From the creepy paintings with eyes that follow you, old victorian furniture, dry ice flowing over the bar, repurposed and rust stained boiler walls, and old electrical switch boards, I wondered why it wasn’t being used for a movie set.
Speaking of movies, Angela is known in Hollywood, working on visual effects for movies like I am Legend, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Hancock, and Hotel Transylvania. We’re only blessed to have her here in Bellefonte, PA, converting a building, which used to be a part of an old metal fabrication factory, into a themed restaurant and a place for the witch’s brew—apple cider and wine. It helps to have an “in” though. Aleah, a high schooler and old soul with a flare for the arts, happens to be a waitress at Titan Hollow. Though, we didn’t know this until after we selected her as a model for our Senior Style Team.
With our dream team of stylists in place, and Aleah donned in Victorian steampunk inspired clothing, we set out to use every dark and dusty and “demented” space of Titan Hollow. I only hope we didn’t get the black lung from working in the old, boiler room. But after looking at these photos, I would have done it 100 times again!
